Faxon Branch
This community-oriented branch in the Elmwood section offers a complete array of services.
Special features include:
A WELCOME CENTER featuring books and DVD’s in the primary 4 non- English languages
spoken in the area (Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese and Vietnamese) plus materials on
learning English. Community members were involved in the selection of these materials.
Regular programs include:
A weekly drop-in English conversation class (PRACTICE ENGLISH)
A monthly poetry-writing group (FAXON POETS)
An ongoing RACE MATTERS film and book discussion series
A monthly adult book discussion
Occasional “coffee talks” to meet with community leaders
Innovative family and children’s programs and storytimes,
featuring one of our most popular events— an annual outdoor
screening of a family film projected onto the wall of the adjacent Puritan Furniture building.
